15-Month-Old Child Killed by Father in South Florida after Court Rules “Unsupervised Visitations” In Timesharing Dispute
Earlier this year in March, residents of South Florida awoke to the terrible news that a Pembroke Pines father killed his 15-month-old daughter after a timesharing dispute with the child’s mother. According to local news reports, Jeronimo Anthony Duran, the 33-year-old father to 15-month-old Melody Alana Rose, killed his daughter with a knife wound to her neck at his home this spring. The death of young Melody came on the heels of a timesharing dispute between Duran and Melody’s mother, a 35-year-old Floridian. Melody’s mother had warned the child timesharing court overseeing Melody’s case that Duran was “erratic, aggressive, violent and dangerous” to both her and to 15-month-old Melody, and urged the court to order supervised visitations with Duran. Duran is reported to have admitted to the court in June, 2023 that he “suffers from mental illness including anxiety (but not paranoia)” but alleged that he was “receiving the appropriate treatment and prescribed medication.” However, Melody’s mother argued that Duran had stopped taking the prescribed medication and was using illegal drugs to “medicate” himself instead. This year, the couple, who have never been married, were able to settle their timesharing dispute, but the agreement included unsupervised visitations with Duran. Duran was, ultimately, charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse, and an innocent life was lost to the monstrous and gruesome acts of her own father.
