The sad and unfortunate killing of a Florida woman by her husband amidst a heated and “messy” divorce underscores to Miami individuals and couples just how dangerous domestic violence can be, specifically in the context of a pending divorce. According to news websites covering the case, 38-year-old Jose Luis Pacheco killed his estranged wife Mimose Dulcio, who was 39 years old at the time of her death. The couple is said to have been going through a “messy divorce” which led Pacheco to kill his wife and hide her body in the woods.

According to reports, Ms. Dulcio was last seen on November 10, 2022, at around 5:30 p.m. in the evening at her home in Broward County. Two days later, a missing person alert went out for Ms. Dulcio. Family members, including Ms. Dulcio’s sister, Seminta Dulcio, had not heard from

Ms. Dulcio after making calls to her, and checked her home, where she was not found. Pacheco, on the other hand, told authorities that he had not heard from Ms. Dulcio in several days, and that he and she were in the midst of divorce proceedings. Ms. Dulcio’s family members were able to gain access to her home, where they found blood, smashed items, and broken windows and surveillance cameras. Pacheco’s sister, who lived in the home, told investigators that Ms. Dulcio was not home. Investigators ultimately believe that Ms. Dulcio was killed in the home and then her body was moved to the woods to conceal the crime. Seminta Dulcio believes that Mr. Pacheco was upset with Ms. Dulcio for being on a dating website. Mr. Pacheco ultimately pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder charges against him.
