Heated Child Custody Exchange Ends in Gunfire in West Palm Beach, Florida
Scary reports of a heated child custody exchange that ended in a serious exchange of gunfire hit headlines over the tail end of last week and over the weekend and several individuals involved now find themselves in police custody. According to local Florida news reports, on Thursday, August 15, the mother of father Allen Huntley’s young child traveled from Jacksonville, Florida to Allen Huntley’s apartment in West Palm Beach, Florida, to pick up the child for a doctor’s visit. However, once at the apartment, police report that the child’s mother, Huntley, and Huntley’s girlfriend, Jaleahia Gainer, got into a heated argument about the child’s mother being late for the child custody exchange. At that point, the confrontation between the parents and Huntley’s girlfriend escalated and became physical. During the fight between the three individuals, a neighbor of Huntley at the apartment complex, Brianna King, came out of her own apartment with a gun. Reports indicate that King’s hand accidentally slipped when her mother’s brother attempted to intervene in the situation and pushed her hand. King shot the gun into the air, which, ultimately, stopped the fight between the three adults. King was charged with second-degree attempted murder with a firearm for shooting the gun during the fight, while Huntley was charged with aggravated battery. Gainer was also charged with battery for her role in the dangerous child custody exchange.
