High-Profile Miami Divorce Shows Judge’s Limits, “Take Action” or “Case Tossed”
A high-profile Miami divorce case involving a celebrity couple shows a judge’s limits when it comes to delaying on advancing a pending divorce case in Miami courts. According to the Miami Herald, the judge presiding over the divorce case of local Miami television celebrity and personality Alexia Echevarria and husband Todd Nepola, of “Real Housewives of Miami” fame has issued a warning that Nepola advance the case or risk the pending divorce to be dismissed.
The couple’s marital troubles became apparent back in April of this year, when Echevarria and Nepola, who live in Miami, split up from one another. 51-year-old Nepola subsequently filed a dissolution of marriage action in court, which some say “blindsided” “Real Housewife” Echevarria. 57-year-old Echevarria said of the divorce proceedings, at that time, that she was “shocked and heartbroken” over them. However, flash forward to this fall, and the couple seems to be repairing things. Despite the pending dissolution of marriage proceedings in court, Echevarria and Nepola are said to have been spotted packing on “PDA”, specifically during the Labor Day weekend holiday.
Whether the couple wishes to reconcile or not, the judge in the couple’s divorce case says that action needs to be taken now, or else Nepola risks the case being thrown out of court. Pleadings from the Miami divorce case state, “Review of the docket display and court file indicates that there appears to have been no action by any party to the cause nor have any pleading or orders of the court been filed in said cause for a sufficient period to indicate that the parties are desirous of further prosecuting this cause”. The Miami Herald investigated the court record and found that the judge in the Nepola-Echevarria divorce ultimately gave Nepola 30 days to respond to the motion to progress the case. The case is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what exactly happens between the couple, and with the outcome of the pending divorce proceedings in court.
