Miami Dolphins Star Player Hit with Traffic Charges Made Headlines Earlier in 2024 for Miami Divorce and Family Court Cases

A Miami Dolphins star player and wide receiver who was hit with traffic-related charges, and who then beat those charges, was in the news more than once this year, and earlier reports reveal battles involving the football player in both divorce and family court in Miami. According to news reports, 29-year-old Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was in news headlines at the beginning of this year for a surprise divorce court filing he denies was initiated at his request. In January, 2024, Hill filed for divorce from his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, in Miami court. However, at the same time, the young Miami football legend was holding out to the public that he was happily married. Hill defended the divorce court filing, stating that it was not done with his authorization and that, “A lot of people been in my business lately… And I just got to say that it sucks…A lot of our stuff is public record. But behind closed doors, a lot of people got fired, too, for just doing things without a ‘yes.’” In addition, after the divorce court papers and divorce petition were released, confirming Hill filed for divorce from Vaccaro based on “irreconcilable differences,” the Miami Dolphins player stated about filing for divorce, “Boy no the heck we didn’t so don’t put that in the air!!!”

In addition to the confusion and mixed messages surrounding the Hill and Vaccaro divorce, Hill was involved in another matter in Miami family court. Hill entered into a settlement agreement with Brittney Lackner, who had filed a paternity suit against the wide receiver in 2023. According to court records in the paternity case, Hill acknowledged that he was the father of Lackner’s child. Although the terms of the final settlement were not available, records indicate that Lackner had initially sought an order for Hill to maintain a life insurance policy and to pay for her and Hill’s child’s health insurance, daycare, education expenses and costs of activities. Lackner also requested that Hill pay for her legal fees and expenses related to the child’s birth. Hill reportedly initially offered Lackner $2,500 per month in child support, which was rejected. The cases involving Tyreek Hill serve as an example of the types of complex issues involved in paternity cases and divorce cases in Miami under Florida laws.
